Uber’s own cover
What Uber offers, and where a membership fits.
In May 2026 Uber started offering Australian drivers an optional car insurance policy. Here’s how it differs from a Stallion membership, in plain terms.
Optional, sold through Uber
Uber’s rideshare insurance
- Comprehensive car insurance created by Vero and offered by XCover
- For Uber driving and personal use
- A monthly fee plus a rideshare premium based on your on-trip kilometres
- Doesn’t cover other gig platforms or food delivery

Stallion membership
Rideshare and taxi cover
- A members’ association, not a licensed insurer
- Your car, whichever app you drive for
- $110 or $130 a month, published, with no per-kilometre charge
- Repairs through our repair partner, and a replacement vehicle when it’s not your fault
Uber also includes some insurance while you’re using the Driver app, under its own terms. We don’t give personal financial advice, so compare what suits the way you drive. How Stallion cover compares with rideshare insurance
