Q.01Is this insurance?
No. Stallion is a membership cover club, not a licensed insurer. You join as a member and your car is covered under the membership terms, with repairs through our repair partner, Nationwide Collisions. Want the detail on how it works for your situation? Get in touch and we’ll walk you through it.
Q.02Can I buy rideshare cover instead of rideshare insurance?
Stallion membership is an alternative to a standard rideshare insurance policy: vehicle cover, repairs through our repair partner, and a replacement vehicle when the crash isn’t your fault, as a monthly membership. We’ll explain exactly what it includes on the call so you can decide if it suits you. We don’t give personal financial advice. How our cover works.
Q.03Will my normal car insurance cover Uber?
Often not. Many personal car policies exclude carrying paying passengers, so check your policy wording. Stallion membership is built for rideshare use from day one. Cover for Uber drivers, or read rideshare insurance explained.
Q.04Does Uber’s own insurance cover my car?
Not automatically. Uber’s free injury protection covers certain injuries to you on a trip, not damage to your car. Uber also sells an optional pay-per-km car policy through the Driver app, which doesn’t cover other apps such as DiDi. What Uber covers, and what it doesn’t.
Q.05Who can join?
Rideshare and taxi drivers working across Melbourne. Uber, DiDi, taxi - if you drive for a living, you’re who we’re built for. Drivers need to be 21 or older. Electric cars and cars worth more than $35,000 can’t be covered, and membership covers rideshare and taxi work, not food delivery. New to Uber? See the Uber car requirements in Victoria.
Q.06What does it cost?
You pay a simple monthly membership, so there’s no big lump sum to get started. Standard is $110 a month with no lock-in and no deposit. Dashcam is $130 a month on a 12-month term and includes a 4K dual dashcam. Compare the plans.
Q.07Which plan do you recommend?
For a car that works every day, the Dashcam plan. Standard suits drivers who already own a camera or don’t want a 12-month commitment.
Q.08Do I keep the dashcam?
Yes. Finish the 12-month Dashcam plan and the camera is yours. Leaving early? Return the camera and GPS tracker and your $300 deposit is refunded, or pay out the rest of the 12 months and keep the camera. The GPS tracker always goes back.
Q.09Is there a free dash cam for Uber drivers?
On the Dashcam plan, a DDPAI Z90 4K front and 2K rear camera ($695 stated value) is included in your $130 monthly membership, and it’s yours after 12 months.
Q.10Can I cancel the Standard plan?
Yes, anytime. There’s no lock-in.
Q.11Is GPS tracking included?
Yes. It’s included on both plans, and it’s required.
Q.12What happens if I have an accident?
Call the club within 48 hours and we take it from there. Your car goes to our repair partner, Nationwide Collisions, and if the crash wasn’t your fault you get a replacement vehicle while it’s fixed. What to do at the roadside.
Q.13What if the accident wasn’t my fault?
Generally, a crash is not your fault when the other driver caused it, for example they rear-ended you or ran a red light. We sort your repair and pursue the other side for the cost. If it was your fault, you’re still covered - you pay a $1,200 excess. If the other driver is at fault and identified, you pay no excess.
Q.14How fast are repairs?
It depends on the damage and on parts. Imported cars can take longer when parts come from overseas. The club books the repair and keeps you updated.
Q.15Do I get a replacement car?
Yes, when the crash isn’t your fault. Once the other driver’s insurer accepts liability, you get a replacement vehicle while yours is repaired. If a replacement isn’t available, you can claim lost income instead, backed by your tax records.
Q.16Do you cover both rideshare and taxi?
Yes, both.
Q.17Can I drive for more than one app?
Yes. Your cover is for your car, whichever app or service you’re driving for. Tell us every one when you enquire.
Q.18Where do you operate?
Right across metro Melbourne. We’re based in Coburg North.
Q.19How do I join?

Q.20Are there other excesses?
Yes, on top of the $1,200 for an at-fault claim: $500 for drivers aged 21 to 25, $500 for drivers licensed less than 2 years, $1,000 for a driver not listed on the membership, and $500 for a second at-fault claim within 6 months. They can add up. Full details are in the membership terms.
Q.21Can I switch plans later?
Yes. You can move between Standard and Dashcam.
